John Longstaff 

John studied piano, organ, harmony and counterpoint with his father Jack, and gained his FRCO on his seventeenth birthday. He held the position of Organ Scholar at Girton College, Cambridge, from 1979 - 1983. He has held full-time posts as rehearsal pianist and ballet conductor at the Opera House in Kiel, Germany, and with Northern Ballet Theatre. He was Musical Director of the Sheffield Symphony Orchestra from 1993 - 2011 and is active as a freelance arranger and copyist, as well as a teacher of conducting and associated skills, most notably at the Sherborne Summer School of Music.
